It was the result that all footy lovers were hoping for. A team with a champion attitude beat a team of champions. The Doggies read the AFL's script and did what all good dogs do. They peed on it. That's the real shock of it all, this time, things didn't follow the formula. It was a great tussle, which wasn't really over until the last five minutes. Boyd, Picken, McCrae and the Bont led the way home...Kennedy, Rampe, Smith and Grundy fought until the end. A totally non- functioning Sydney forward line proved to be the ultimate difference. Buddy fought a lone hand. Tippett and Rohan, again, failed. McGlynn and Papley were out of their depth.
My best? 3 Tom Boyd, 2 Josh Kennedy, 1 Liam Picken
What's in store for 2017?
Swans will play finals. Again...especially if the AFL have anything to do with it...LOL! It will not be so easy though, especially with their COLA losing its fizz. Surely they must find a way to keep Tom Mitchell? Surely there must be a team out there stupid enough to take Tippett, Rohan or (injury prone) Sam Reid off their extremely tight payroll? Norf? Collingwood? Freo? (Bennell was a great pick up). Richmond? (...as was Yarran).
The Dogs? They should be thereabouts (top 4) again. Though, it depends how much they a) celebrate b) Cloke ruins their mojo.
ASAP, they need to sit Cloke down, tell him to shut the f#%k up, find a locker and focus on breaking into a premiership team. For the past week he's been spruiking about being young Boyd's mentor. Newsflash, Cloke. Boyd doesn't need you as a mentor. He doesn't need to learn how to miss easy goals at critical stages, lose confidence at a drop of a hat and be a non-contributor when things aren't going your way. Just keep your head down Cloke, don't strut around like a peacock; when, presently, you're not much more than a cheap feather duster.
Congrats Doggies! Woof! Woof!
Bring on the meat market of trade week.
Go hard or go home!
